When a guest comes to the Dallas Campus and stays in a current resident’s apartment while they are out of town, we call this “subleasing.” Most often, our subleasers are online or extension site DTS students coming to Dallas for a hybrid weekend course, week-long intensive, or summer/winter session course.
Currently, our lease states that the following groups can sublease in Washington Apartments or Swindoll Tower:
Current residents set their own nightly rates.
While we don’t tell our residents what to charge, we do encourage them to consider local hotel rates and choose an amount that is cheaper than what a guest would pay at a hotel.
We technically don’t allow dogs or cats in either of our Campus Housing facilities. We do, however, allow our residents to bring their Emotional Support Animals into their apartments permitting they submit necessary paperwork to our office.
Because our subletters are not full-time residents of our facilities, we do not permit subleasing guests to bring their pets with them for their stay.
(Guests with Service Animals are an exception to this.)
Campus Housing is not involved in the exchange of moneys for subleasing agreements.
Therefore, our office cannot process refunds for cancellations. Guests are encouraged to communicate with the resident they are working with to notify of a need to cancel a reservation and to handle any necessary refund requests.
It’s like our own personal AirBnB…just for us!
You can even check out the menu on the left side of the screen to filter your listings by building.
We have two on-campus housing communities:
We might be a little biased, but we think on-campus life is the BEST, and we want to make sure you have a great time while you’re here in Dallas.
Guests who choose to sublease must read and agree to the terms outlined in our “Guest Guidelines.” We want to make sure you know what we expect of our guests and what you can expect from our department and community during your stay.

We’ve got the 4-1-1 on subleasing! Read this checklist to learn what the expectations are for our residents who wish to sublease.
You can also use DTS facebook pages, google groups, or connect with people from your classes organically.
No matter how you choose to connect with prospective guests, make sure you provide the details of their stay using the above form.
