Looking to Swap Units or Move In with a Different Current Tenant?

Washington Apartments

As you make plans for the next lease term, you may decide you would like to live with someone else in the building. We love when our residents make new friends and find a better fit for their living situation. Typically, when two people from separate units would like to live together, we would move one of you into the other person’s unit. In this situation, we do not complete a make-ready process unless our inspection team deems it absolutely necessary given extremely poor conditions in the apartment. We will, however, arrange for cleaning before you move in.

For these types of moves (with no make-ready), we do not charge a fee. However, moving to a new unit usually must take place in late May or the first week of June so that we have time to get your current unit ready for a brand new tenant.

If you have already found someone else within the building you would like to move in with, please fill out the request below. We will do our best to honor your request, and the Leasing Coordinator will be in contact with you to schedule your move date and time if your request is granted.

If you and your current roommate would like to move apartments because you prefer a different floor, we will charge a flat fee for the cost of painting and repairs to the unit before your move-in. If you are seeking to move into a one-bedroom apartment, you must also sign up for a transfer, and all make-ready fees listed below will apply. Both of these elective types of moves must take place within 2 weeks of the new unit’s availability date. Associated costs are listed below:

  • $400 Washington
  • The cost of any damages to your current unit
  • You must also make up the difference in the security deposit between your current unit and the new one

Swindoll Tower

If you would like to move apartments within Swindoll because you prefer a different floor or would like to move from a one to a two-bedroom unit, you should submit a transfer request using the link below. Associated charges include:

  • $500 flat fee to help cover the cost of painting and basic repairs for your new unit
  • The cost of any damages to your current unit

If you are granted a transfer and choose to accept the offered apartment, your move must take place within 2 weeks of the new unit’s availability date.

Is Your Roommate Leaving or Moving in With Someone Else?

Link Up with Another Current Tenant!

It is often easier to move in with someone who already lives in the building. But we are aware that you may not know everyone who currently lives here, or you may not know who all is looking for a new roommate. So our office has created a spreadsheet for current residents to post that they are looking for someone else within the building to live with.

DTS cannot publicly display your residential information. Therefore, you must add your own name and contact information to the spreadsheet if you would like to utilize this resource. We suggest removing your name from the list once you secure a new roommate. You can view this spreadsheet using the button below.

Once you pair up, fill out the Transfer Request with your new proposed roommate’s  name.

Connect with New Campus Housing Applicants

Download the Roomsync app (or use from your browser) and create your own unique profile. You’ll then be able to swipe left and right to connect with other students who are also on the roommate hunt!

Roomsync allows you to note your living preferences, such as your ideal household temperatures, how messy or clean you are, whether or not you’re a night owl or early riser, and so much more.

Finding the right roommate can make or break your time in school, so we advise all of our incoming residents to take the time to get to know their future roommate before signing on the dotted line.

Once you find your match, send an email to housing@dts.edu and let us know that you’re ready to officially be placed on our apartment waiting list.
