Roommates

Looking for a Roommate?

When you apply for an apartment with DTS Housing, you are applying to rent an apartment by yourself or with the spouse/family members indicated on your application. However, residents have the option to share an apartment with a roommate. The Housing Office does not place roommates together to share apartments, but you may match with a roommate by following the process below.

Getting Started

If you haven’t already, please first Apply for Housing. If you are not yet eligible for DTS Housing, please hold off on finding roommates and applying until you have been accepted.

Join RoomSync

Download the RoomSync app (or use from your browser) and create your own unique profile. RoomSync allows you to note your living preferences, such as your ideal household temperatures, how messy or clean you are, whether or not you’re a night owl or early riser, and so much more. Make sure to set your filters for what you’re looking for in a roommate. Once you finish setting up your profile you will be able to swipe left and right to connect with other students who are also on the roommate hunt!

Click to start matching!

We advise all of our incoming residents to take the time to get to know their future roommate before signing on the dotted line. Once you sign a lease together, you are entering into a binding legal agreement, so make sure that you are all on the same page! Everyone must agree to the roommate arrangement and lease terms.

Confirming Your Match

Once you have identified the roommate(s) you would like to live with, please formally “Match” with your new roommate(s) in RoomSync. Next, make sure to include your new roommate’s information on your Housing Application.

Please note that matching with a roommate does not guarantee an apartment offer. Offers are still subject to continuing qualifications, apartment availability, and your current spot on the waitlist, among other factors. However, since you cannot receive an offer until any roommates you require are identified, please prioritize matching with someone so that you have the best chance at getting an apartment offer.

We regularly monitor RoomSync to ensure that the platform is safe for our applicants to use. However, if you notice a suspicious character on RoomSync or experience any sort of inappropriate behavior, please report the person on the platform and reach out to housing@dts.edu.

Happy Matching!

Roommate Moving Out?

If you are a current resident and your roommate is moving out, please know that there will be cleaners and contractors in and out of the apartment from the day that your roommate vacates until their side of the apartment is “Made-Ready”. After their side is “made ready”, you are not allowed to use that space unless you are taking over the lease for the entire apartment. If it is discovered that you are using a side of the apartment that you are not paying for, you will be charged for the entire apartment from the availability date until the current day.
