Preparing for Apartment Entry: Fire Alarm System Update

Construction work in resident apartments begins August 11, and instructions have been posted to help residents prepare for the contractors who will be entering their apartment. Work will begin in the 10th floor apartments of Swindoll and move downwards, one floor at a time.
Organic Growth Prevention and Reporting

Living in the South with its high humidity and warm temperatures, organic growth is an ever-present threat that can develop even without anyone doing something wrong. Because of its adverse impacts on resident health and building safety, organic growth is a menace that Housing, Facilities, Student Life, and the DTS Health Committee take very seriously.
In light of that, we want to provide (1) clarity on how to differentiate organic growth from its imposters, (2) tips for preventing organic growth, and (3) the process DTS follows when suspected organic growth is reported.
Fire Alarm System Replacement Begins June 2

At the direction of the City of Dallas Fire Marshal, we need to update the Fire Alarm System in Swindoll Tower and Washington Apartments. Beyond aligning with City directives, this upgrade will significantly enhance the safety and reliability of our emergency systems, and we are grateful that the Seminary is in a strong financial position at this time for such an undertaking.
Construction will take place between June-December 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Contractors will work on shared spaces before accessing apartments.
- Apartment work: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. only.
- Contractors will spend 2–3 hours in each unit.
- You will receive at least 24 hours’ notice before entry.
- Please ensure that your apartment is accessible at the scheduled time to avoid a fine.
