“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” John 10:10
Eikon is a community that leans into the “abundance” of life in Christ, together striving to fulfill our vocation in Him: that by the work of our hands, we reveal Him who is the source of all goodness, truth, and beauty. The questions we are asking are: How do we make meaningful art authentic to ourselves, especially as Christians? What is the power of art in mission and social justice? What does it mean to ‘worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness?’ How can we transform our encounters with Beauty into true and Spirit-filled worship? Our hope is to cultivate proper worship in all areas of the arts, foster a community that bonds over creative craft, reignite the positive relationship between the Church and the arts, enrich the theological discussion of beauty within the seminary, bless the culture with works of beauty, and inculcate artistic practice that participates in God’s redemptive mission.
“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.” Psalm 139:7-10
