Internship Applications
Before You Apply
- Begin the process 1-2 months before the semester for which you want to start your internship.
- Consult with your Academic Advisor before completing the Application.
- Review the Internship Process.
- Schedule a meeting with an Internship Coordinator.
Registration for the Internship Course can only be approved by the Ministry Formation Department. Please reach out to the Ministry Formation Department to get your internship application and mentor application.

Application Process
1. Internship Questions Meeting
Email internships@dts.edu with your availability. This initial meeting is necessary to ensure that you understand and fulfill the internship requirements for your degree.
2. Submit the Application
You must complete an application to register for the internship course. Email internships@dts.edu and you will receive a copy of the internship application as well as the mentor application. You are responsible for getting these applications filled out and returned to internships@dts.edu
3. Mentor Application
Your application is not completed until your chosen mentor has submitted their portion of the application. Please send them a copy of your application for them to review. Once your mentor application is submitted, you will receive confirmation from the Ministry Formation team. Then the team will submit your applications to be approved. If there are any questions about your application or your mentor’s application, you will receive an email asking for clarification. If there are no questions and everything is approved, you’ll receive an email confirming your ability to register for the Internship course.
4. Complete Mentor Consultation
Once the semester begins, students must plan their internship with their chosen mentor. This includes developing goals. This mentor consult meeting will take place with you, your mentor, and your internship coordinator within the first month of your internship. The Canvas course contains instructions for completing the Planning Worksheets needed for this meeting.
Important Internship Dates
When registration for the semester opens, you may register for your internship once approved by the Ministry Formation team. Keep in mind that there is a cap of intern class size every semester. Slots are filled on a first come first serve basis. Once the spots are full, you must petition for the cap to be raised. Otherwise, you will have to wait for a later semester.
Your internship course covers 2 or 3 semesters; you are responsible for registering for the subsequent courses every semester. All credit hours and payment are accredited to the first semester of your internship. Following semesters are 0 formal credit hours. However, you will not receive your letter grade until you complete your internship. This course is not pass/fail. You must receive at least a C to receive credit for your internship.
