Direct Loan Process

Loan Application Due Dates:
- June 1– Direct Loan request documents for fall semester due
- November 1– Direct Loan request documents for spring semester due
- April 1– Direct Loan request documents for summer semester due
- 4-6 Weeks after Application – Loan response from the government and DTS
- First Week of Classes – Loan will be disbursed
Below are the first two steps:
Step 1. Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Please apply online at https://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Please use the provided link to access the site directly. You should not have to pay anything to submit the application. The school code for DTS is G03562.
Step 2. Submit a DTS Loan Request Form
Please select the appropriate academic year that you are requesting a loan for. Our academic year consists of Fall, Spring, Summer in this order. For example the 2023-2024 academic year would begin with Fall 2023. When completing the form, please be sure to indicate all of the semesters you will be requesting a loan for in that academic year and the total loan request for the year. The Department of Education prefers students have one request to be divided evenly between the semesters in that academic year. Please email financialaid@dts.edu if you have questions.
